1.The Prize Pool at The International 2022 Was Halved Compared to Last Year!

The International 2022 had a prize pool of $18.9 million which is absolutely massive for esports. However, The International 2021 had a prize pool of just over $40 million. 3. PSG.LGD Came 5th!

PSG.LGD were the heavy favorites going into The International. They had an incredible 2022, which included a win at the Riyadh Masters. Unfortunately, the Chinese team struggled early on and only managed to come 3rd in their group with a 4-4-1.

Fans thought that PSG.LGD was just warming up, but their poor form continued into the playoffs. They were immediately defeated 2-0 by Team Secret. And then, after getting 2 good wins over BOOM Esports and beastcoast eventually fell to Team Aster.

4.Team Spirit Had a Terrible Tournament

Team Spirit were the defending champions and were in great form after winning the PGL Arlington Major and coming second at the Riyadh Masters. However, for whatever reason, they failed to perform at The International 2022.

Team Spirit had a poor 1-7-1 record in their group, which left them in 6th place. Then in their first playoff match, they lost 1-0 to BOOM Esports, and just like that, they were kicked out of The International in 13th place!
