Best HP Omen gaming Laptops

HP is all about sleek builds, promising brand image quality specifications, and whatnot, this has become a promising choice for many of them because of its long experience in this segment. They have launched a series specially dedicated to gaming enthusiasts, OMEN. A look at the best picks is given below.

HP Omen X 2S Laptop

Display – UHD (3840×2160 ) 15.6 inch IPS

Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080

Memory – 1 TB SSD

Processor – Intel Core i7 9750 H

HP’s Omen X 2S is a high-end contender that, thanks to the addition of a second built-in screen, is unambiguously unique among gaming laptops. Like on the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo, the second screen is located just forward of the keyboard. While it’s too small to replicate a traditional dual-monitor setup (it’s just 6 inches), it adds functionality and—shocker!—doesn’t inflate HP’s price beyond what the competition charges for similar hardware. Tally up all the expected refinements for a gaming notebook in this price class (a metal build, RGB lighting)

There are some really cute touches in the keyboard, such as it selectively backlighting relevant keys when you hit Fn, a Windows-key lock with an LED so you know whether it’s locked or not, and backlights on the shift functions (e.g. it lights up the “#” as well as the “3”), a personal peeve. And the keyboard itself feels good, both for typing and gaming, with a decent amount of travel and a perceptible actuation point (unless you don’t like that feel), and nothing’s in a nonstandard spot.

But if you’re looking for macro keys — or any programmable keys, for that matter — you won’t find them here. And because the screen and cooling system sit between the keyboard and the main monitor, there’s no wrist rest area. It’s also big, heavy, and made of a rubbery material.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Uses a 9th generation Intel processor, which delivers impressive speeds. Easy to overclock the CPU using the included software. 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD. Full HD quality display screen measures 15.6 inches diagonally.

ProsCons
Bigger SSDSmaller secondary screen lacks functionality
Astonishing performancePoor material quality
144Hz with G-SYNCShort on battery life

Display – FHD (1920 x 1080) 15.6 inch IPS

Graphics – NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti

Memory – 1TB HDD 256 SSD

Processor – Ryzen 5

The HP Omen 15 2020 is a rock-solid contender for the next gaming laptop you buy. It packs the perfect hardware configuration, only thrown off by the choice of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650Ti in an otherwise high-end spec. Regardless, it performed well in both gaming and creative workload tests we put it through.

FEATURES:

The display is bright and very color accurate, right out of the box, something content creators are going to definitely enjoy. Perhaps, the most impressive are the thermals, which HP has done a really good job of keeping in check so that your laptop doesn’t feel like a toaster and of course, doesn’t cause your CPU to throttle. There’s also a user-upgradeable RAM option, with an additional, empty NVMe slot to add more high-speed storage.

The only factor that dampens my spirits about the HP Omen 15 is the lid, which wobbles, flexes, and sometimes doesn’t even stay straight. If you can live with a poor quality lid, then there’s no reason for you to not consider the HP Omen 15 as your next gaming laptop.

The 15.6-inch full HD display and powerful processor make this a capable laptop for gaming, video editing, and other intensive tasks. The simple, sleek design is not as flashy as other Omen laptops. 16 GB of RAM and 512 SSD.

ProsCons
Diverse port selectionUseless webcam
Sustainable performanceDescent battery performance
300Hz refresh ratePoor speaker quality
Understated design

Display – UHD (3840×2160 ) 15.6 inch IPS

Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

Memory –  256 SSD

Processor – Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7700HQ

HP Omen 15T is a Windows 10 Home laptop with a 15.60-inch display that has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. It is powered by a Core i7 processor and it comes with 8GB of RAM. The HP Omen 15T packs 256GB of SSD storage. Graphics are powered up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 supermax q. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, Ethernet and it comes with 5 USB ports (3 x USB 3.0), Multi Card Slot, Mic In, RJ45 (LAN) ports.

It is a very thick device to accommodate all the cooling vents and fans but its metal build feels solid and there is almost zero lag. Its design does not shout about its performance. Its display with 91% sRGB might sound good on paper but is not promising in real life. This laptop is a plethora of ports but misses on USB C power delivery port. And approx 2.5 hours of multimedia playback time is also disappointing. It’s still a great value for money but comes with some of its quicks.

ProsCons
Scope for upgradesModerate battery life
Keyboard is backlitMisses on thunderbolt 3
NVMe SSDLow nits levels
Good pricingSingle-channel RAM

Display – FHD (1920 x 1080) 17 inch IPS

Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080

Memory – 1TB NVMe SSD

Processor – Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7700HQ

If you are not familiar with HP omen 17 laptops, these are high-end laptops with a 17-inch display and fat RTX graphics. The updated version is 22% thinner and 15% lighter. It is heavy in your backpack still reasonably lighter for a gaming laptop. It comes with a 17 inch Full HD IPS 144 Hz display with a relative matte finish which is not ideal but you can take advantage of that 144 Hz refresh rate. It also provides G sync which doesn’t often see in these kinds of laptops and yes helps reducing screen tearing, smooth out fps at low frame rates. Besides, half of the space is taken by cooling vents, it can be stuffed with either an RTX 2060, 2070 or even 2080 and they are full fledged, no max q.

The design, look and feel of the laptop are not going to get you excited. Aluminum chassis can be a fingerprint magnet. the keyboard is backlit and has RGB which is nice but is limited to 4 zones only. The touchpad feels smooth and responsive and we have the Bang and Olufsen speakers which sound sweet and have decent bass for a laptop. To enhance your live session or other online games, it has got Wifi 6 support. There is a scope of improvement in battery life, especially for a gaming laptop.

ProsCons
Powerful performanceMediocre battery life
Impressive keyboardPoor Plastic quality
Affordable price tagHeavy to use

Its display can be configured from 60Hz to 144Hz and 240Hz or a 4k IPS panel. Its aluminum build feels rich but attracts smudges. The command center shows system vitals control your network speed manage is micro key assignment change keyboard lighting and allow you to manage 3 performance mode as well as switch fans from auto to Max. You can hear the fans but they’re not the loudest. Keyboard’s quality feels to be good but the portion flexes a lot, which comes out as cheap quality. It weighs around 6.14 LB ( including power adapter )which you come to expect for a gaming laptop but it’s still within limits.

ProsCons
NVIDIA G-SyncCumbersome for daily usage
Minimalistic design The addition of RGB could have been better
Power GPUPoor battery performance
144Hz refresh rate

These are the top and the best HP Omen gaming laptops available in the market.
