The wait is nearly over. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, pre-orders have been live since June, and Rockstar has finally confirmed most of what people were arguing about for years. This guide covers what’s actually confirmed: the release date, the price (including India), the editions, which consoles can run it, and the big question for PC players.

GTA 6 Release Date: Is November 19 Final?
It’s about as final as a Rockstar date gets.
GTA 6 has slipped twice already. The first trailer promised 2025. That turned into May 26, 2026, and then Rockstar pushed it again to November 19, 2026, saying it needed the extra months for polish. Fans took it about as well as you’d expect.
This time it looks safe. Take-Two has repeated the November date on several earnings calls, pre-orders are open, and the game has been taking people’s money since June. Publishers don’t usually start charging for a game they plan to delay, and Take-Two has built its whole next financial year around this launch.
November 19 is a Thursday. Rockstar hasn’t posted exact unlock times for each region yet, so keep an eye on the Rockstar Newswire in the final week. If you’re in India, expect the unlock to land at an odd hour of the night, because that’s just how global launches work for us.
GTA 6 Price: How Much Does It Cost?
Rockstar confirmed the price right before pre-orders opened. GTA 6 is the second game to charge $80 for its standard edition, after Mario Kart World. Some people were bracing for $100, so it could have been worse.

Indian players got a decent deal here. ₹7,499 works out to roughly $79 at current exchange rates, so the Ultimate Edition in India costs about the same as the Standard Edition in the US. That isn’t cheap. Six thousand rupees for one game still hurts, but it hurts less than a straight dollar conversion would have, which would have put the standard edition around ₹7,500.
Standard vs Ultimate Edition: Which One Should You Buy?
Both editions give you the full game. The Ultimate Edition adds an upgrade pack with extra vehicles, weapons, outfits and some story extras for Jason and Lucia.

If you mostly care about the story, buy the Standard Edition. You won’t miss any part of the actual game. The Ultimate Edition makes more sense if you know you’ll spend a lot of time in the online side later and want a head start.

A Warning About the Physical Copy
The “physical” version of GTA 6 isn’t really physical. The box contains a download code, not a full game disc. So you’re paying for a nice box and then downloading the game anyway. It’s basically a very expensive bookmark.
That also means you can’t buy a used copy cheap from a friend later, which is probably the whole point.
Because the game is huge, clear storage space on your console now. Rockstar hasn’t published the final install size, but don’t expect it to be small. If you pre-ordered digitally, the pre-load will need that room before launch day.

If you’re still on a PS4, GTA 6 is a polite way of telling you it’s time to upgrade. The game is built only for current consoles, and Rockstar has made it clear there’s no last-gen version coming.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
This is the question our readers care about most, so here’s the straight answer: GTA 6 is not announced for PC yet, and nobody can pre-order it on PC.
That doesn’t mean it isn’t coming. Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has said more than once that PC is a growing platform and that Take-Two’s big games end up on every platform eventually. He just won’t give a date, because Rockstar announces its own releases.

If Rockstar follows its recent pattern, a PC release around late 2027 looks realistic, and 2028 wouldn’t surprise anyone either. That’s our estimate based on Rockstar’s track record, not anything official.
So what should PC players do right now?
Don’t buy a new graphics card for GTA 6 yet. There are no PC system requirements, and GPU prices will look different a year from now. Buying hardware today for a game that might come out in 2028 is like booking a hotel before the wedding has a date.
Ignore every “GTA 6 PC download” or Steam key you see. Since there’s no PC version, every one of these is a scam. Same goes for emails promising early beta access. Those have been going around since pre-orders opened, and they’re after your account login, not your feedback.
If you can’t wait, a console is the only legit option. An Xbox Series S is the cheapest way into GTA 6 on launch day.
What Is GTA 6 About?
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, and brings back Vice City for the first time since Vice City Stories. If you remember the 2002 original with its neon and pastel suits, this is the modern version, with more social media and fewer Hawaiian shirts. Probably.
You play as two characters, Jason and Lucia. Lucia is the series’ first female lead in the modern era, and the pair are a criminal couple, so the story leans on their relationship. For the first time in GTA history, the getaway driver gets to argue with you about the route.
As for GTA Online, reports say the online side of GTA 6 will follow after the story launch rather than going live on day one. Rockstar hasn’t shared a date for it yet.
Should You Pre-Order GTA 6?
We usually tell people to wait for reviews before buying a big game. GTA 6 is one of the few where that advice doesn’t save you much. It won’t get a discount anytime soon, and Rockstar’s track record with story games is about as reliable as it gets.
Pre-order if you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series console and you know you’ll play it in the first week. Go digital so the game pre-loads and you can start the second it unlocks.
Wait if you’re a PC-only player, if the price feels like a stretch right now, or if you’d rather see how the launch goes first. Take-Two’s CEO has called pre-order demand “unprecedented,” so the game isn’t exactly struggling for buyers. It’ll still be there in December.
